Update

Version 0.9: the campaign finale

The campaign is complete: all ten missions, the second boss and a final train-versus-train battle. And mountains with waterfalls have risen around the valley.

Mission 10: “Raiders’ Lair”

Rocky hills, a lake, a stream with a waterfall — and the gang’s base behind a palisade in the corner of the map. The raiders have their own line around the lair, and on one side it runs right next to yours, without a single switch between them. In the last wave the gates open.

The raiders’ armored train

A locomotive with a skull on its nose and three armored cars in gang colors: two cannons and a heavy machine gun. The armored train runs on its own loop, and where the lines run side by side it slows down — a side-by-side battle begins.

  • Cannons. They hit your locomotive if it is closer than 75 meters, otherwise the nearby station. The impact spot is shown in advance by a red circle.
  • Machine gun. It rattles at the nearest car while the trains run side by side.
  • Refueling. Once per lap the armored train stops at the water tower near Outpost Station. The armor is off — it takes 1.6× damage, but reinforcements roll out of the gates.
  • Losses. At two thirds and one third of its durability it loses its tail car and speeds up.
The best tactic: wait for the armored train at the Outpost. It refuels there, and you restock shells at the station.

Victory earns the “End of the Gang” medal.

“The Dam” and “The Port”

In mission eight the line runs right along the crest of the dam, and a branch goes down to the power station at its foot. In mission nine — a seaside town and a drawbridge over the canal: once a minute it is raised to let a steamer through, and the train waits at the edge of the span.

Mountains and waterfalls

Mountains now surround the valley on every map. Raider roads go into mountain passes, rivers into canyons, and in “Two Bridges”, “Figure Eight” and “Raiders’ Lair” water falls from a cliff as a waterfall. The field where the train and enemies drive stays flat: the mountains are just for beauty.

Missile car and new modules

The machine-gun car became a platform module — now one platform takes two machine-gun mounts. A missile car appeared at the depot: the cradle rises, and a ballistic missile hits a cluster of enemies almost across the whole map. It fires only when standing still. For the platform — a missile silo: a catapult launches the missile, and it arcs to the target even on the move.

What’s next

Version 1.0 is ahead: polish and balance for all missions, a browser version. Next — new bosses: an airship, a land battleship and a drilling mole.
